Description

The dry period and weeks leading up to calving are the most critical times for preventing new mastitis infections. During these phases, the teat canal is especially vulnerable to bacterial migration before the natural keratin plug is fully established, or if it becomes compromised.

T-HEXX DRY External Teat Dip is specifically formulated to help protect dairy cows during dry off and pre calving by forming a uniform, adherent barrier over the teat end. This film forming seal helps block environmental pathogens, reducing the risk of mastitis infections that can negatively impact fresh cow health and early lactation performance.

T-HEXX DRY is recommended for use:

  • At dry off following the last milking
  • Approximately 10–14 days prior to calving, with a final application 3–5 days before calving when conditions warrant

As long as the bright blue barrier remains intact and visible, the teat remains protected. Depending on bedding and environmental conditions, protection can last up to seven days, making T-HEXX DRY an effective and economical addition to dry cow mastitis prevention programs.

By helping prevent new intramammary infections during the dry period, T-HEXX® DRY™ plays an important role in overall dry cow mastitis control and fresh cow udder health.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is T-HEXX DRY used for?
T-HEXX DRY is an external teat sealant designed to help prevent mastitis infections during the dry and pre calving periods.

Does T-HEXX DRY help with mastitis control?

Yes. When used correctly at dry off and prior to calving, T-HEXX DRY helps with mastitis control by reducing new infections during the dry period, one of the highest risk times for mastitis development. By forming a physical barrier over the teat end, it helps limit bacterial entry that can impact fresh cow health and early lactation performance.

What’s the difference between a teat dip and a teat sealant?

A teat dip is designed for short term sanitation before or after milking. It disinfects the teat skin but does not provide long lasting protection or physically seal the teat canal.

A teat sealant, like T-HEXX DRY, is designed for dry off and pre calving protection. It forms a durable, film forming barrier over the teat end that helps block environmental bacteria from entering the teat canal during the highest risk periods for new mastitis infections.

Is T-HEXX DRY an internal teat sealant?
No. T-HEXX DRY is an external teat dip that forms a physical barrier on the outside of the teat.

How long does T-HEXX DRY stay on the teat?
Depending on bedding and environmental conditions, the barrier can remain effective for up to seven days as long as it remains visible.

When should T-HEXX DRY be applied?
It is recommended at dry off and again 10–14 days prior to calving, with final protection applied 3–5 days before calving.

How do I know when reapplication is needed?
The bright blue color makes coverage easy to monitor. If the sealant is no longer visible or has been removed, reapplication is recommended.

Is T-HEXX DRY water resistant?
Yes. Once dry, the film forming barrier is resistant to urine, manure, rain, and moisture.
